Review

Another anthology of Roger Ebert’s less-than-favorable reviews, where “less-than-favorable” is defined as two stars (out of a possible four) or less. Most of the films here, from the first decade of the 21st century, draw two stars on the basis of sheer mediocrity: only a handful rate a single star, and a few get no stars at all. (I found it interesting that the 2010 remake of I Spit On Your Grave got the same zero-star rating as the 1976 original, which Ebert described this time around as “despicable.”) While you might want to keep this around as a reference for Things To Avoid On Netflix, it’s just as much fun going through the reviews sequentially and seeing just what it is that annoyed Roger this time. There won’t be another volume, alas; but this one will do nicely for the time being.
