Review

Pointed and occasionally snarky, but never overbearing, essays, from the 1990s, when Daum was intent on becoming one of the New York literati. (She eventually moved to Nebraska, and wound up as a columnist for the Los Angeles Times.) Perhaps the best is “American Shiksa,” in which she details her erstwhile fantasy of settling down with a nice Jewish boy.
