Review

Perfectly deadpan spoof of a guide for the Recently Turned, presented by The Vampire Miles Proctor, born Milos Prockofijev around 1500 and himself turned in 1542, near present-day Bratislava. The thing about becoming a vampire, apparently, is that reading things like Twilight doesn’t at all prepare you for the experience, and so Miles is here to provide hints and tips, some from his own extended life, some from elsewhere. Cleverly, the publisher (Villard) provides on the back cover a link to their nonfiction e-newsletter; they don’t want you thinking this is some kind of joke.
