A nicely-detailed history of the VW Beetle, focusing on the three people who arguably did the most to making Volkswagen a household word in the States: Beetle designer Ferdinand Porsche, VW production chief Heinrich Nordhoff, and New York ad man Bill Bernbach. Their stories are arguably as interesting as the car’s.
