Review

Awkwardness is slightly endearing, especially when it’s not. If you understand that particular bifurcation of reality, this is your book: if you can imagine anything mortifying, it’s probably already happened to Alexandra Petri, and she’s not too proud to admit it. The laughs-to-lines ratio here is as high as anything I’ve seen in years, and perhaps quite unintentionally, she’s staked a claim to being the anti-Magic Pixie Dream Girl: she can change your life just as dramatically, but you won’t have a chance to write your screenplay about it, because you’re too busy laughing.
