You got yr. Cherry Valance

Well, yeah, everyone in the state saw The Outsiders nine or ten times, but by then I’d already heard of Diane Lane, who debuted at the tender age of fourteen in George Roy Hill’s A Little Romance back in 1979. (I mentioned it briefly here; no, I was not blogging in 1979, no matter what you heard.)

And yeah, Diane’s Cherry Valance was memorable, for a Soc, but apparently the lady improves with age:

Diane Lane

Well, geez, what were you expecting? Hannah Giles bikini pictures?

(Title swiped from this unrelated, but catchy, tune.)

She and Sela Ward are the two most beautiful women in the biz. Hands down.

Diane Lane was utterly charming in A Little Romance. As a mature woman, she’s one of the great beauties of the world. If we of the Baby Boom need a reason to hope that our “later years” might not be too utterly decrepit, we need only look to Diane Lane.

And she’s beautiful, apparently, without plastic surgery, and WITH crows feet.
