Scenic Lane

If you ask me, which of course you didn’t, the only reason to watch the Golden Globes, or most any other award show for that matter, is to check out the couture, and after looking at several dozen gowns, I decided to single out this lovely Reem Acra number wrapped around Diane Lane:

Diane Lane at the 2012 Golden Globes in Reem Acra

Tomorrow’s her 47th birthday. Is she aging well? “She makes me want to stab myself in the ear,” says despairing Fug Girl Jessica.

She’d look good for 37. She’s outta control for 47.

Wrapped? Unwrapped? Ask me if I care!

She looks fantastic. And I don’t want to stab myself in the ear over that; I’m sure part of it is a lucky genetic draw on her part, and part of it is a devotion to “maintenance” (diet and exercise) that requires a more superhuman level of commitment than I possess.

Nope. No designs on anyone’s ears ears on my side. And yes, delicious content deliciously wrapped.

Clever idea – to end the sequins before they reached shoulders, giving impression of decollete . A smart designer.
I wouldn’t stab myself in the ear either – but it made me pause for a minute on a way to midday snack.
She looks like a Hollywood star from the times decorum was appreciated.

Coincidentally, just last week we watched “The Outsiders” for the first time (with Lane as Cherry, the female lead). She looked great then, and she looks great now. Natural beauty never goes out of style.
