Pattern cognition

Regular readers may have noticed an occasional tendency here toward gratuitous photos of tall women with legs that go on for days. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, necessarily, but the selection could fairly be described as somewhat unrepresentative, given the fact that most women in this country, and I suspect most women who drop by this site, are five-foot-five or less.

To break up the monotony, therefore, here’s a gratuitous photo of Kylie Minogue, all 1.53 meters (5′ ¼”) of her:

Kylie Minogue, circa 2009

(Before you ask: Zooey Deschanel is about 5′ 5½”. And yes, those are fishnets.)

I recall reading that the median height among American women — that’s all women of adult age currently residing in the United States — is 5’5″. The frequency of “stunners,” however assessed, on either side of that median was not disclosed. Neither was the propensity toward fishnet stockings and high heels.

Perhaps I should ask ny friend Duyen (5’1″).
