Ack . . hope it doesn't trash your system like it did mine! Thank goodness it appears as an uninstallable program :)

Well, it downloaded (in about a third the time it took to "prepare for downloading"); the Install Wizard gave up the ghost somewhere during "Preparing inventory," and so far the machine has no idea that all this new stuff is anywhere on it, which is probably a Good Thing.

Rather than try to figure out where to resume the process, I have requested that Microsoft send me the offending code on CD.

SP2 is evil. It installed all right on my computer but once I restarted it, some of my other programs went buggy and it can't even see my antivirus program.

What happened to mine was my anti-virus proggy (Panda) thought it had no files to protect :( Plus I don't care to have Automatic Updates turned on and it bugs you to death about it. This was a previous something-beta version so that may have had something to do with it. I left messages on the Microsoft support board to no avail.

I had good luck with the install, but like ms7168, disable Automatic Updates and now get a message saying "Your computer is at risk" every time I boot up. At least Microsoft is honest about it.

This tells what happened when I allowed that abomination on the laptop. It broke Norton Internet Security and had the entire system operating at about 2 MHz instead of the rated 2000 MHz.
