The very appearance of gratitude
To commemorate this site's 200,000th visitor, a minor facelift.
In the whirling world of blogdom, picking up two hundred thousand visitors in a few months isn't so unusual. It took me eighty months. No matter. I'm grateful to each and every one of you.
And to the nonexistent Jennifer Hawkings, who infested enough mailboxes over the weekend to send scores of people scurrying to Google to find out what was going on, I thank you as well: this day will likely be the busiest in the site's history. Posted at 11:37 AM to Blogorrhea
200,000 is pretty damn good regardless. So you're saying six and a half years to reach that, eh?
But given the growth of blogs, why do I suspect you've gotten more the last couple of years than you did the first four and a half?
In fact, the 100,000 point was reached on 2 January 2002.
It should be noted that this site really didn't qualify as a blog until the summer of 2000; the Vents have been appearing since day one, but there were no daily updates for the first four years. Traffic was running about 25-30 a day at that point, the vast majority from search engines.
The first daily log entry was 23 June 2000, and there has been at least one every day since. Current traffic level is about 2,000 a week.
